Soul Catcher is a novel aimed at young adults, primarily, but any of you who read Harry Potter as an adult (and you know who you are), this is also for you.
This is a classic quest-adventure story spanning dimensions. Separated by some unknown force, John and his little sister, Kalli, must reunite and find their way home. Magicked to an alternate reality that split from our own thousands of years previously, John gets dumped, unceremoniously, in the middle of nowhere, hundreds of miles away from Kalli. Imprisoned, Kalli has to find a way to escape, unwilling to rely on her brother to rescue her.
In the meantime, this new reality presents its own challenges. As in our own dimension, apes evolved to become humans and were joined by five other species of animal: fox, tiger, falcon, owl, and rat. In our own dimension, the evolved apes, hellbent on creating dominion over all others, killed off all other evolved species. In this new dimension, they were not successful in doing, and now exist in perpetual punishment, confined to one small, grey island, where they must live on in shame.
One man wants to put a stop to the shame: Yiannor. Possessor of an ancient artefact that grants him deity-like powers, he is busily working on building an army to reclaim the planet and the glory that had once been theirs.
Harnessing the power of his artefact, he inadvertently summons Kalli and John to the dimension, setting off a chain reaction that not even the Ancients could have foreseen – the end of reality.
John, oblivious, only has one thing on his mind: to find his sister and return home.
